Common questions, answered
Quick answers to help you feel confident before booking.
Can I book a C1 medical for NIAS or ambulance work?
Yes. We offer C1 driver medicals for NIAS applicants and ambulance staff. The doctor will review your medical history, check your blood pressure and eyesight, and complete the relevant DLM1 or D4 paperwork.
Do I need a DLM1 or D4 form?
If you’re applying through the DVA in Northern Ireland, you’ll usually need a DLM1 form. D4 is used for DVLA applications in Great Britain. Both appointments are available at our clinics.
Do you offer Group 2 medicals for PSNI?
Yes. We provide Group 2 driver medicals for PSNI personnel who are applying for or renewing their driving entitlement. You can book online at either our Antrim or Craigavon clinic.
How long does the appointment take?
Most appointments take around 15 minutes, provided you bring the correct paperwork and any relevant medical information with you.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring your DLM1 or D4 form, photo ID, glasses or contact lenses if you wear them, and a list of any medication you take. A recent optician prescription and any relevant GP or hospital letters are also helpful.
Will my form be completed on the day?
In most cases, yes. The doctor will complete the medical sections of your form during your appointment. If any further information is needed, we’ll explain what to do next.
How much does the medical cost?
The medical costs £50. This includes your appointment with a GMC-registered doctor and completion of the relevant DLM1 or D4 paperwork. The price is shown before you confirm your booking.
Where are your clinics?
We offer appointments at Stiles Community Centre in Antrim and Brownlow Community Hub in Craigavon. Both clinics have free parking. You can see available dates and times when you book online.
Is this the same as an armed forces entry medical?
No. This appointment is for your driving licence. Medicals for joining the armed forces are arranged through the service you’re applying to.
